The United States Christian Commission was a service that combined religious support with recreational activities and social services. It furbished supplies, medical services, clothing, and religious literature to soldiers of the Union. The United States Christian Commission was created as a response to the suffering that befell the soldiers at the First Battle of Bull Run.
